The Pacific Jazz Institute at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley
along with the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association,
the Kobe Trade Information Office and Shinkaichi Music
Street is pleased to present Kobe, Japan's 2008 Vocal
Jazz Queen, Chie Kobashi, for one night only. Supporting
Chie will be Randy Halberstadt (piano), Mark Ivester
(drums) and Jeff Johnson (bass). The show starts at
7:30pm, doors open at 6pm. A donation of $10/adult
and $5/students and seniors is greatly appreciated
as donations support the Seattle Female Jazz Vocalist
Audition program.

a wonderful event highlighting the good relationship
between Seattle and Kobe. I am very excited to play
with great musicians in Seattle. I hope we all can
share this precious evening and have a wonderful time
together. I am looking forward to seeing you there!"
Biography:
Born in Amagasaki City, Hyogo, in 1976, she grew up
in Kobe. Chie started singing at the young age of
8 and began her professional singing career in her
early 20s. She has performed at various jazz clubs
and hotels in Kobe, Osaka and Tokyo. In addition to
being a singer, she is also a composer and arranger
of jazz, bossa-nova and folk musis. In 2002, she received
the World Scholarship Tour from Berklee College of
Music. There she studied with Bob Stoloff, Loisa Thorson,
Maggi Scott and Mili Bermejo. In 2006 she produced
and performed a concert in Boston where she combined
her paintings with music. She currently performs in
Japan with big band and other numerous jazz musicians
based in Osaka and Kobe.
